SPORTING CLAYS

At Blixt & Company, our summer simulated days replicate the excitement and rapid-fire pace of a Traditional Driven Shoot. Unlike five-stands or clay courses, Simulated Shoots mimic the unpredictable nature of live birds by providing guns with varying and simultaneous flight patterns. Some clays fly high overhead while others dart in fast-paced crosses. Some clays fly in pairs or triples, while others speed by in succession. Our unique style affords the guest an opportunity to experience this dramatic and challenging tradition in a less-formal environment.

A Simulated day not only captures the sporting aspect of Driven Shooting, but the hospitality as well. In the mid-morning, guests are treated to “Elevensies,” a traditional English break in any gentleman’s day. A gourmet Field Lunch is prepared and served in the comfort of our spaciously elegant safari tent, and the day comes to a close with cool refreshments. Guests are transported throughout the property in our take of the customary shoot day vehicle, the Gun Bus.

The schedule of the day follows the Driven Shoot model with multiple drives in three unique locales. Guests arrive at nine o’clock at a central meeting place and are ferried to the shooting site. A break for nibbles occurs around eleven o’clock followed by more shooting and lunch. After relaxing in the shade of an aspen grove, the guns are once again transported to the field for a full afternoon of excitement. We wrap up for cold beers and tall-tales around the four o’clock hour, and guests depart at their leisure.
