HESTENBECK
Hestenbeck was added to the Blixt shooting estate portfolio in 2021. Comprised on a diverse series of canyons, Hestenbeck has a wide variety of drives and presentation. The 2500 acres includes deep valleys; perfect for high pheasant, sweeping hillsides for sporting partridge and a range of untapped potential. Towering aspen trees, thick pine forests, broad open plateaus provide perfect habitat for the development of America’s driven shooting estates.
The Shoot at Hestenbeck
All days are offered based on a “no-bag limit” and with a variety of drives throughout the property.
Your shoot captain will host you, along with your loader trained to either single or double gun. The team of beaters and dog handlers, all directed by our UK game keepers, will make the most to present you with a great day in the field.
A typical day starts with breakfast and safety briefing we will meet the loaders and the rest of the team. After the customary drawing of pegs, we will head to the field, moving from drive to drive.
After lunch, the day continues with the two final drives of the day, before heading back for afternoon tea or cocktails.
ASH HILL
Nestled into the base of the Teton Mountain Range of Idaho, about one hour and a half drive from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, you will find one of the most recent developed shooting properties for traditional driven shooting in America.
In 2015 Blixt & Co. obtained the exclusive shooting rights at Ash Hill Shoot near Ashton Idaho. The estate consists of 1,680 acres of wide open vistas and four steep and dramatic valleys, which vary in depth, giving every level of shooter the ultimate excitement of challenging shooting, as well as the enjoyment of a great day in the field.

During your visit you will be hosted by our staff and private chef. The Lodge accommodates eight guns or eight couples, and is conveniently located in the middle of Teton Valley Idaho, with close proximity to local and private airports.
A days shooting at Ash Hill will include 5 drives, 3 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon (dependent on weather). We do not shoot a contracted number of birds, as you will experience a shoot with a NO limit bag.
TWIN PEAKS
Prior to this venue, avid sportsmen needed to travel to England or Spain in order to participate in the great sport. The opportunity to participate on a day of driven partridge shooting is one of the rarest you will find in North American.
In 2014 we added a range of new drives as well as pheasants for a dynamic mixed bag day.
Blixt & Company obtained the sporting rights for Twin Peaks in 2011. The shoot encumbers 620 acres of rolling landscape, with numerous aspen groves, which breaks up the landscape. The estate is located about 90 minutes from Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Each shoot accommodates a line of 8 guns, and all days are offered based on a “no-bag limit” and will include 6 drives per shoot day.
During the shoot you will be hosted by the “Shoot Captain”, your personal loader, a 25 man strong team of beaters and dog handlers, all directed by our English game keeper whom will make the most to present you with a great day in the field.
A typical day at Twin Peaks starts with breakfast at the Lodge. After breakfast we will head to the field to meet the loaders and the rest of the team. After the customary safety speech and drawing of pegs, we mount up in the custom Gun Bus to move from drive to drive.
There will be two drives in the morning before the guns stop for elevenses, and two more drives before lunch. Lunch is served in the field, under a safari tent placed in a glorious wooded grove settings. Our private chef will make sure that all guests are well looked after.
After lunch, the day continues with the two final drives of the day, before heading back to the Lodge for afternoon tea or cocktails.

Teton Valley, Idaho boast a rich agricultural history with some of the most stunning views of the Grand Tetons.Visits to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park are easy day trips for those non-shooting guests or for extended travel. The Blixt & Co hospitality team, including chef, butler, and guest service specialists, will ensure you are comfortable and relaxed after a day in the field. Our private chef will craft meals that feature many of our small local food growers and producers fresh from the farms and seasonally based.

BE THE FIRST TO KNOW!
Do I have to dress traditionally?
We encourage traditional dress, but it is not required. No jeans, sneakers, camo or shorts on the line, please, and please consider a jacket for dinner. Keep three things in mind: comfort, protection from the elements, and avoiding bright, unnatural colors that stand out (not hunting camo, just muted tones). Much of today’s shooting gear is traditional in style even when it isn’t in material, so there’s no need to be a slave to tradition.
- Trousers: most guests shooting in the UK tradition wear knee breeches in woolen tweed — more comfortable and practical than they look — though ordinary outdoor trousers are just as welcome.
- Shirt and jacket: a shirt and tie are traditional (the tie increasingly optional), often paired with a matching tweed jacket to complete the shooting suit.
- Outerwear: many guests now prefer a lightweight, waterproof Gore-Tex jacket, saving the tweed jacket for the shooting lunch or afternoon tea.

Can I shoot double guns?
Yes. All of our loaders are trained to double gun.
Can I bring my own guns. Do you have guns to use?
One of the benefits of Blixt & Co is the opportunity to bring and use your own guns. If you need to borrow guns, let us know in advance as we have a limited supply of guns available for use.
What equipment should I bring?
We provide gun slips, loading bags and ammunition so there is no need to pack these bulky items. If you have personal eye and ear protection, bring it along. However we have plenty on hand if you need anything. We also have a pro-shop for any gear you might need.
What are the gratuity guidelines?
At Blixt & Co we have adopted a service fee policy.
Our entire team works hard to create a memorable and exceptional experience. From all those behind the scenes to the members of the team you see regularly, we are nothing without our team. In an effort to reward all those involved, we implement a service fee that is distributed across the entire team, with one exception: your loader.
For your loader, we recommend $100 per day, based on your gratitude and the level of service you receive.
Trust that the gratitude provided by the service fee is adequate and appreciated.
What kind of cartridges do you provide?
We supply 12, 16, 20, and 28 gauge, Hull Cartridges 2 1/2″ game loads.
What chokes do you recommend?
We recommend modified and improved modified.
Do I need a license?
Yes. You will need a valid Idaho State Preserve License. This is a limited license and is not valid for other small game in areas outside of a shooting preserve. Once you fill out the license information form, we will provide this license for you.
**IF YOU ARE BORN AFTER 1975, you must have completed Hunter Safety and provide your hunter safety number to get a Idaho Hunting License.**

Can I bring my dog?
Yes. We ask that if you bring your dog on peg, that it is under control and not a distraction for your safety and shooting.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is driven shooting?
Driven shooting is the traditional sport of the great estates of England, Scotland and Spain. Instead of walking birds up, a line of eight guns stands at numbered positions, called pegs, while a team of beaters works the cover towards them. As a result, the birds come high and fast over the line. Because our drives are run by UK gamekeepers, the birds are presented as they would be on a fine British estate rather than thrown from traps. Consequently, it is among the very few places in North America to shoot this way.
What does a typical day look like?
First, breakfast at the lodge. Afterwards you meet your loader and the team for a safety briefing and the customary drawing of pegs. Then the Gun Bus takes you from drive to drive, with a break for elevenses mid-morning. At midday, lunch is served in the field by our private chef. After lunch come the final drives, and finally you return to the lodge for afternoon tea or cocktails. Depending on the estate, a day runs to five or six drives.
What do I wear?
Although we encourage traditional dress, it is not required. Tweed breeks, a shirt and tie and a shooting jacket are classic. However, many guests now wear a lightweight waterproof on the line while saving the tweed for lunch. Whatever you choose, please keep to muted, natural tones. For that reason we ask for no jeans, sneakers, camouflage or shorts on the line, and a jacket at dinner. Because the season runs from late summer into late autumn, bring layers and sturdy waterproof boots.
Do I need to bring my own guns?
No, although you are very welcome to, and many guests enjoy shooting their own pair. If you would rather not travel with guns, then Beretta 686 Silver Pigeons are available and included in your package. Since we hold a limited number, please let us know when you book.
Do I need to be an experienced shot?
Guests of every level join us. Because you have a safety briefing each morning and a loader at your side throughout the day, the sport is far less daunting than it looks. If you would like to sharpen your eye beforehand, we also offer private instruction and days on our clay shooting course.
Can I come on my own?
Yes. You can book the full line of eight guns for your own party. Alternatively, you can take a single peg as a member of our Shooting Syndicate. As a result, you can enjoy the sport without having to gather seven friends first.
What is included?
One, two or three consecutive days of shooting with no bag limit, together with three nights of accommodation. In addition, all food and drink is included, including dinner by our private chef. You also have a host throughout your stay, your loader, the dogs and the full shoot team. Finally, your Idaho hunting license, cartridges, the use of a gun if you need one, and ground transportation from Idaho Falls, Driggs or Jackson Hole.
Can non-shooting guests come along?
Of course. In fact, the lodge welcomes eight guns or eight couples. Meanwhile, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are easy day trips, and our hospitality team is glad to plan the days around them.
When is the season, and how far ahead should I book?
The season runs from mid-August to the end of November. It opens with partridge, and pheasant join the bag as autumn arrives. However, pegs are allocated first come, first served. For that reason most guests book six to twelve months ahead, so do contact us early to check dates.
