SPORTING CLAYS

The new sporting clays course at Twin Peaks, winds through a shaded aspen grove. The 12 station course presents a variety of game style targets and a host of challenging options. Relax with a packed lunch after a round of clays in the hammocks nearby! 

You can book the course on a half day or full day basis. You could come with a group of friends or as an individual. Access to the course includes all targets and access to the facilities, and we will be provide a trapper / guide.

You can also become a “Clay Member” and join the Blixt & Co. Shooting Syndicate. This will grant you access to the sporting clays course during the summer, as well as give you full access to all our scheduled Simulated Days and any other social events during the summer.

SIMULATED SHOOTING

At Blixt & Co., our summer simulated days replicate the excitement and rapid-fire pace of a traditional driven shoot.  Unlike Five-Stands or clay courses, simulated shoots mimic the unpredictable nature of live birds by providing guns with varying and simultaneous flight patterns.  Some clays fly high overhead while others dart in fast-paced crosses.  Some clays fly in pairs or triples, while others speed by in succession. Our unique style affords the guest an opportunity to experience this dramatic and challenging tradition in a less-formal environment.

A simulated day not only captures the sporting aspect of driven shooting, but the hospitality as well.  In the mid-morning, guests are treated to “Elevensies,” a traditional English break in any sportsman’s day.  A gourmet field lunch is prepared and served in the comfort of our elegant safari tent, and the day comes to a close with cool refreshments.

SPORTING CLAYS

Hosted by our instructors, you will be have the opportunity to bring your own break open firearm or use one of our club guns. You will shoot the 12 stations of our Sporting Clay Course at the beautiful Twin Peaks property. Your group will shoot through the course and then end with a game of friendly competition.

SIMULATED SHOOTING

Much like our Simulated Driven package, the day is spent replicating a traditional shoot day. Clay targets are thrown from the top of the canyons to fly in similar paths as the pheasant and red-legged partridge that we see during our driven shooting season. 

OUR APPROACH

Traditional driven shooting, while customary in Europe, is relatively new to North America. The sport is best appreciated – and safely and successfully carried out – when the basic tenets of shooting are carefully passed on to new enthusiasts. Blixt & Co. has considerable experience in doing just that. Part of the education lies in the understanding of shooting etiquette and sportsmanship on the line. The remaining education deals with the actual principles of shooting.

Blixt & Co. utilized on the Percy Stanbury method of shooting education which was established at the West London Shooting School, and honed over the last century. Blixt & Co.’s educational services can be called upon at any time — regardless of personal experience or location.

At Blixt & Co.’s headquarters, with instruction for beginners through experts, a unified curriculum is taught using ten core fundamentals of the Percy Stanbury method. By implementing these techniques, a student confidently continue their eduction regardless of the specific instructor.

Blixt Sporting Days

The clinics are held at our home course at Twin Peaks. The facility is set up for classic training for Driven Shooting and more. Participants can partake in 2 and 3 day intensive clinics with instructors from around the globe.

Blixt Sporting Days

Designed to give students an in-depth instruction period, clinics and workshops are hosted both in Blixt Shooting Properties and host venues around the country.

Field & Stream

Summer  ·  Teton Valley A Blixt & Co. pairing of Simulated Clay shooting and drift boat Fly-Fishing, with full service accommodation provided by the Lodge staff. The packages are customizable to the individual need, and offer additional amenities such as twilight floats down the Snake River, lunch harvest at our local farms, wine tastings, and hiking for our non shooting guests.

Ladies in the Field

A ladies’ shooting group led by Blixt & Co. very own Jennifer Magnusson. Though often seen as a “Gentleman’s Sport”, driven and clay shooting has garnered interest and momentum from women recently. This group will focus on connecting women with the world of shooting by starting off at the Twin Peaks’ clay course and then transition into the field! From guns to gear, ladies have the opportunity to learn and share. Specialty events throughout the year will allow women of every level enjoy the sport and lifestyle.

Clinics & Workshops

Designed to introduce, inspire and connect women to each other and the sporting life, Blixt & Co Artemis events and clinics create a collaborative environment. Interest areas such as instruction, etiquette, field fashion, guns, gear and trips allow women of every skill level to participate and connect with other ladies.

Couples’ Events

The Artemis events are not limited to ladies only. Inspired by Lars and Jen’s love of travel and sharing the sport, we have also developed trips and experiences that allow couples to travel together. The ladies would shoot together and the gentlemen would shoot together, then sharing the camaraderie with each other around the table, charged with new stories from the field.
