Fine Gun Auction
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new venture between Blixt & Co. and Holt’s Auctioneers, namely a US based auction of Fine Modern and Antique Guns, to be held at the fabulous Snow King Resort in Jackson, Wyoming July 16, 2016.
Blixt & Co. and Holt’s have worked together for a number of years, with Lars and Jen Magnusson acting as Holt’s Representatives for the United States of America. The idea to hold an auction in America has always been a long term aim, and now with the resources open to Blixt & Co. and the huge developments in internet technology making the logistics of such an operation eminently possible, we are delighted to be able it come to fruition in the form of our inaugural Summer Auction.
The concept is simple, to hold a modest sized auction with a wide range of items to suit every purse – and with a definite leaning towards the day being enjoyed as a great social event by our clients. The auction itself will be preceded by a cocktail party to get everyone in the mood for what we hope will be a fun and entertaining afternoon. On the day, the auction will be held by Nick Holt and Chris Beaumont from Holt’s Auctioneers in a traditional English style.
Items being offered for auction will have been on view for a month prior to the sale. The catalogue itself will be an internet only production and will be able to be accessed via both the Blixt & Co. and Holt’s websites. Bidding will be by live participation in the room, by telephone – or of course commission bids can be left in advance of the sale.
The cataloguing for the sale will be written by the same specialists who produce Holt’s fine modern and antique gun catalogues, so plenty of experience will be on offer should anyone require further verification on items in the sale – and all items will be sold under ‘United States Rules’ (so firearms will not be subject to the conditions of European Proof regulations).
